Attack to of the Sweet and Salty Monster

Do you know this monster?  He is completely invisible and yet breaks the will of most he encounters.  The monster I am referring to is the deadly cycle of sugars and salts.

I have a real problem with this.  I would say on most occasions it starts with somethings salty, but then as soon as I have enjoyed the chips or whatever it might be I need something sweet.  Obviously this triggers the need for salt.  Then sweet, then salt, sweet, salt, sweet, salt, sweet.  Well you get the point.

So what do you do to combat the Sweet and Salty Monster?

Hmm... I try to trick myself by eating healthier alternatives. If I'm after salty I make myself some stir fry with soy sauce. If I'm after sweet I try to stick with fruit and if that doesn't work I hit up a skinny cow :) I just browsed down through your weight loss record and wholly smokes! I gotta get myself in gear. I'm exercising as soon as I get home! (Well, ok, maybe after dinner...)

go with the sweet and salty vibe just do it healthy...I just had the cravings myself and had a good size handful of blueberries and some whole grain crackers......not my usual crunchy cheetos and pb cups but my body is going to thank me for it!

Easier said than done at times I know.

right now... unfortunately, I'm giving in and finishing off a Payday bar. Been fairly good all day... no excuses... just moving on.

I am into sweet/salty in a big way. Chew a piece of really minty gum and it will break the cycle.

Kathy has a good one, the 'new' Extra Wintermint gum is good for cutting the cravings. PLUS, it is so MINTY that it ruins the flavor of ANYTHING else for quite a while.

If that doesn't work... Nature Valley Sweet-n-Salty Almond bars (3 points)
