That was the most difficult run I have had

So I went out for a two mile run last night.  Had to stop and walk after one hill and could not make it all the way up another.  Probably walked 200 yards in all.  I just ran out of gas.  My legs felt tired from the get go.  So tonight I will rest them a bit.  I will head to the gym and I will ride the bike but at a more leisurely pace.  I will also hit the weights and do the sit ups.

Do any of you runners out there struggle with dead legs?  I thought early in the day that they felt strong, but once I started my run they just started talking back and telling me I was nuts.

Hey Matt,
What I do notice about your workouts on Buckeye is that you are not giving yourself a rest day.
It is smart that you are doing crosstraining on non run days, but I haven't seen one "real" rest day for your legs. Even easy biking is still work. Great dedication though..
Yes I know, Rest? "We don't want no stinkin rest!"(In my foreign accent voice)

Dave- Thanks BTW for the idea on Buckeye.

I have a real rest day scheduled for Monday. Maybe I will just lift tonight. I just want to get as much aerobic exercise as I can in to burn more weight.

Improvement in running is geometric, you'll be surprised. Within a few weeks you'll be able to belt out a mile, then two, and so on.

Definitely rest though and don't overdo it. Better to do less than you may be able to do, but do it for months longer, than try to be a hero and hurt your knee or hip joint and spend three months doing nothing - I've seen that waaay too often with new runners.

sounds like muscle fatigue to me. :)

When I first started running all I did was 3 days a week with a rest day inbetween and I still got dead legs. I'm surprised you are not getting dead legs more often to be frank!
