Tired, but no where near dead.

So I did indeed run last night.  I ran an entire mile.  For the first time I ran outside.  It was absolutely great.  I have no idea how fast I ran it, but I am not to concerned about time right now.  I do know that I probably could have kept going and I will be trying that tonight.  I know I should be following the whole C25K thing, but I am just not the regimented.  I am sure it would be better for me, but I just need to do this my way.

So what is my way.  Basically tonight (if the rain hold off) I will set the goal for two miles.  I will not run for time, but I will just try to complete to miles running.  Then I will see where I am at the next day.  I may not even run.  I might just head to the gym.  If it rains tonight I will be heading there tonight so you see I just need to do this my way.

All in all I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will be ready for the 5K come Oct 18th.  My goal will still be to run the entire thing.  But as my training progresses I may make a secondary goal.  We will have to wait and see on that one.  Speaking of  Oct 18th.  Check out the countdown to the right.  That should get my butt off the couch and on the streets huh.

Also a note on fitness and kids.  My son even tagged along for the run last night and I could not have been more proud.  He would walk and then sprint to catch up.  I hope that he will join me for more runs in the future.  So to those of you out there with kids, you might ask the if they want to join you the next time you go for a run or a walk.  I hope they take you up on the offer.

One of the most enjoyable and proudest things that I have experienced since my lifestyle change and running is the fact that my boys run with me on occasion. It's uplifting. Not to mention, I can kick all of their butts now!!!
I use to run for 5 seconds then gasp for breath.LOL!
Keep up the good running.

I think it's wonderful your little guy came along. I always encourage my kids to exercise with me.......even when it's not always the most convenient way to work out :)
