Spinning my wheels

Well I did not run last night.  I got all ready to go and then decided to go to the gym instead and then my motivation just went away.  I have been eating like crap lately.  Not tracking a darn thing.  I am probably not eating as bad as I once did but I will say it feels like the wheels are coming off.

So why all this now.  Why after just yesterday I wrote about not giving up those things I love so much.   Well I guess it is because out feeling change from day to day.  I guess it is because I I am 4 and a half weeks away from a 5k that I signed up for and I am sitting here not doing a whole lot about it.  I know I can finish.  But I would like a strong run.

I need to not only get back to the exercise routine, but also need to be better about the choices I am making.  So what do you guys do when you motivation is down and you know that you need to get back on track?

What I do when the wheels come off is to try and make one good decision and stick to it. Then another. And so forth.

Dig deep. You've gotta come up with you're own inspiration. Is it worth it? Absolutely, feels so much better to be in the 180's than 280's! I look better, I feel better and I know it's hard and will never get easier, but it is worth it! Exercise, eating healthy, etc. all worth it.

you're doing so well, I guess you feel a bit overwhelmed. It is hard to be good all the time. So don't try to be perfect. As andrew said, pick one thing that you can do and do it. You'll feel so much better because it is one forward step on your journey. I suggest that you write down your eating. I think it will make you choose better foods. I know you'll feel better about your wiser choices.

I agree with Greg, you may be feeling overwhelmed. That being said, a change in scenery may be in order. May try running somewhere new (even if you have to drive to it) or try a sport that you haven't done it awhile.

Another suggestion is to take a look at old pictures to see how far you've come. Maybe even print one out and put it where you can see it.

Good luck!

I am in a bit of a rut as far as my 5AM gym routine, even as far as getting out of bed, walking around to my wife's side, and resetting it for 6AM. It is always easier to sleep for that extra hour. But this morning when I got back into bed after the above routine, I felt guilty and told myself, "Get you a** out of bed and just get it done." Then when I got there, I mixed up my normal routine. Trying something new is a great was to help with motivation. You work new muscles, they get sore, and you know that you are making progress. When you run that 5K in the future, you will feel a great sense of accomplishment when you cross that finish line. You are doing great....BL

I've discovered over and over again that my motivation slips after I have lost enough weight to feel better and have my clothes get loose. It's at that point that the urgency to lose is gone and I have to make an effort to go to the next level. TB is right that you have to find your own inspiration at that point. I think the run would be a great mini-goal. I love that counter you have going, btw!
